Note:
In the 1900 Cook County, IL census, Mary states that she was a widow but that she was married what appears to be 39 years. Does this mean that Adam died in 1896 based on marriage record?

Based on copy of Adam's obituary, he probably died on 19 Feb 1899. His funeral was on Tuesday, 21 Feb. The only year between 1896 and 1900 where the 21st of Febuary falls on a Tuesday is 1899.
